While many solar-related components are manufactured overseas; a popular solar panel mounting system is true-blue, dinky-di Aussie – SunLock.

Designed and distributed by Energy Matters’ sister company, Apollo Energy, the unique rack system has been developed through the decades of collective experience of the two companies’ Clean Energy Council accredited installers.

Now in use in many thousands of solar panel installations across the nation, SunLock recently added another feather to its cap – use of the Australian Made logo.

“SunLock has always been designed and made in Australia,” says Energy Matters CEO Jeremy Rich. “And we fully intend on keeping it that way. Having the iconic Australian Made logo on SunLock products is a great source of pride for the Energy Matters and Apollo Energy team.”

The SunLock family of solar panel framing products includes systems for pitched or flat roofs, plus ground-mounted and pole-mounted frames. By November of last year, SunLock products had captured 6% of the local racking system market.

Backed by a solid ten-year warranty, all SunLock products are robust, fast to install and compliant with relevant standards – including AS/NZS1170.2:2011/Amdt 2:2012. SunLock products are constructed using 6000 series aluminium, which has a 25+ year service life under Australia’s often harsh conditions.

While solar panel mounting systems are an element often overlooked when making a system purchase decision; it’s a very important component – and one some suppliers may skimp on.

Energy Matters advises consumers should ask about mounting systems; particularly wind certification and warranty arrangements, when considering packages.

Launched by Bob Hawke in 1986, use of the Australian Made logo is now administered by Australian Made Campaign Limited (AMCL), a not-for-profit company, under contract from the Federal Government. A strict code of practice governs how it can be used.

According to research carried out last year, 98.8% of Australians recognise the logo.
