Suntech Launches New Solar Panels, Extends Product Warranty

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of two new high performance solar panel models and also an extension of product warranty on all the company's standard solar modules.

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of two new high performance solar panel models and also an extension of product warranty on all the company’s standard solar modules.

The two new panels are the Suntech HiPerforma 245 and the Suntech 290W Vd series.

Suntech’s HiPerforma 245 watt solar panel utilizes Suntech’s Pluto technology, featuring a proprietary metallisation process that decreases shading on the cell surface and allows cells to absorb more sunlight; boosting electricity generation. The Suntech HiPerforma 245 has been geared towards the home solar power and commercial solar market.

The Suntech 290W Vd Series has been designed for utility-scale solar farms and utilises Suntech’s SuperPoly technology, a silicon casting and wafering process that produces wafers offering higher electricity output and increased resistance to light-induced degradation.

“These advanced solar technologies represent major steps forward in our mission to drive down the cost of solar electricity generation,” said Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Suntech’s Founder and CEO.

Both of these panels will initially be available to the United States, Canada and Latin America markets. A release date in Australia is yet to be announced.

In other Suntech news, the company has announced it has extended its limited product warranty from five to ten years. The new extended warranty applies to all standard panels shipped since April 1st, 2011. Suntech solar panels also offer a separate 25 year power output warranty.

“Solar panels are a long-term investment, and our customers want to work with a bankable partner that will stand behind its products. Suntech’s extension of the limited product warranty minimizes performance risk for our customers, and will ultimately help to drive down the levelized cost of solar electricity for consumers,” said Andrew Beebe, Suntech’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Suntech has delivered more than 15,000,000 solar panels to customers in more than eighty countries.
