3MW Of Yingli Solar Panels For Rooftop Project

Yingli Solar has announced it will supply approximately 12,000 of its PV modules for use in a rooftop mounted distributed generation project in eastern China.

Yingli Solar has announced it will supply approximately 12,000 of its PV modules for use in a  rooftop mounted distributed generation (“DG”) project in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in eastern China.

The multicrystalline Yingli solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of four separate warehouses of Wuhan Dongxihu Bonded Logistics Center. In total, the arrays will cover 39,000 square meters.

80% of the expected 39 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity generated per year will be used by the logistics center, with the surplus exported to the mains grid.

“We are pleased to provide our solar modules to this important demonstration project in Hubei province,” said Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy. “Institutions throughout Hubei province’s bonded logistic zone have transitioned to sustainable, low-carbon energy generation in recent years, and we are honored to once again supply an innovative PV project in this region.”

This is the second significant project announced by Yingli in under a week; the first being a 2MW solar farm in Senegal.

According to a recent survey of over 200 solar businesses in the United States, the U.K., Germany and elsewhere carried out by research company IHS, Yingli Solar ranked first among 75 solar brands in terms of module reliability, quality and affordable pricing.

“The results arise from our continuous focus on technological leadership and ongoing efforts to reduce the overall cost of solar PV,” said Mr. Liansheng Miao.

And Yingli certainly isn’t done on the cost reduction front yet. In fact,  the company’s chief technology officer Dengyuan Song says Yingli is aiming for its solar panels to crank out clean electricity at a rate that works out to cost just US 1 cent per kilowatt-hour.

Yingli Green Energy has now shipped more than 10,000 MW of its PV modules to customers worldwide; including to Australia where the panels are a popular choice in home solar power systems.
