Power-One Inks Agreement With Daqo

Leading solar inverter manufacturer Power One and a rising star in the Chinese solar panel manufacturing sector, Daqo, have teamed up.

Last week, Power One’s President of Renewable Energy Solutions, Dr. Alexander Levran, signed an agreement with Daqo for the supply of some components for Power-One inverters and peripherals and to assist Power-One in winning new business in China.

Daqo will provide Power-one with PV combiner boxes and DC distribution boxes for use with Power-One’s inverters; plus components such as circuit breakers.

Additionally, Daqo will provide agency and sales services for Power-one products in China.

In September, the arrangement will be re-negotiated/re-signed with Power-One’s new owners, ABB.

The world’s second largest inverter manufacturer; Power One solar inverters are widely used in Australian residential solar installations.

Power One’s Renewable Energy Solutions arm has seen significant growth in the past 12 months and in the first quarter of this year generated sales of $146 million globally. The company has more than 3,200 employees around the world.

While Daqo is a relatively new name in Australia – introduced to the local market last year by Energy Matters – the company behind the brand is very well established. Daqo Group was founded 40 years ago and in 2012 generated revenue of over USD $1.8 billion. Daqo is a fully integrated solar manufacturer, producing everything from 9N polysilicon to solar cells and finished modules.

Daqo solar panels offer guaranteed positive power output performance; meaning each module will achieve at least its nameplate wattage or more. In recent multiple tortuous PID tests designed to degrade panels, the modules demonstrated a performance reduction of less than one percent.

Given the high quality of Daqo modules and coupled with their competitive pricing, the panels are becoming an increasingly common sight on Australian rooftops.
