Solar Energy in WA: Fast Facts

Feed in Tariff:	- Western Australia's feed in tariff scheme now pays 8 cents per kilowatt hour for solar electricity fed into the grid. The best way to save money with solar is to match the system to your daytime electricity consumption. For example, If you are using 10kW during daylight hours, then a 2kW system will offset your bill. - Find out more about WA’s feed in tariff here.

Switchboard upgrade cost:	- Minor upgrade: approximately $200-$400 - Major upgrade: approximately $800-$1200 What’s a switchboard upgrade? Click here.

Meters:	- TBA - System size must be consistent with Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme (REBS) which is 5kW for Synergy customers and 10kW per phase (30kW in total). - Horizon Power customers (Horizon Power customers installing greater than 5kW must consult Horizon Power first). These are determined by the size of the inverter. - Synergy cap is based on the inverter face plate value of 5000W e.g. 5.17kw on a 5000W is accepted. This has been confirmed by Synergy.

Meter and FIT requirements:	- Energy Matters sends Feed in Tariff application forms which you will need to sign and lodge yourself. Make sure you discuss prices, timeframes and contracts with your retailer directly. - Energy Matters prepares and lodges the Grid Connect application forms that initiate the meter changeover (your signature is not required).
